Features of the Facility
The facility has the following significant features;
- The sea water osmosis intake system allows a stable intake of cleaner sea water.
- UF membranes (*1) can remove microorganisms and ultrafine particles, produce no waste and need less space for installation.
- The two-stage reverse osmosis system, high-pressure RO system (*2) and low-pressure RO system, was adopted to produce higher quality water.
- The freshwater recovery rate improvement (60%) allows less volume of sea water intake which requires less space and results in lower costs.
- *1: UF Membrane (Ultrafiltration membrane)
UF is an abbreviation of ultrafiltration by which various viruses as well as cryptosporidium can be removed.
- *2: RO Membrane (Reverse Osmosis membrane)
RO is an abbreviated expression of reverse osmosis, one of the membrane processes, which is capable of removing salts along with chlorine and sodium ions.
