Membrane Structure
A variety of membranes are used at the sea water desalination center.
UF Membrane
Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) Spiral Type
* UF membranes can remove colloidal materials (*) and viruses from raw water as the water passes through them.
* A colloid is a substance composed particles ranging from 10-6 to 10-7 in size.
High-Pressure RO Membrane
Cellulose Triacetate Hollow Fiber Type
* High-pressure RO membranes
can efficiently remove dissolved salts as filtered water passes through wound up hollow fibers.
Low-Pressure RO Membrane
Polyamide Spiral Type
* Low-pressure RO membranes
are used for the adjustment of the quality of the feed water as the feed water passes through several alternating layers of flat-sheet membrane which have been rolled up.
