Our Task

Agency's Water-Source Facility Sites

The Fukuoka District Waterworks Agency (*1) comprises of 8 citiy and 9 town districts, and includes one local public utilities administrative agency, i.e. the Kasuga-Nakagawa Waterworks Agency.

We provide the following municipal water supply services (*2): conveying water from the Chikugo River, Kyushu's foremost river, to the Ushikubi water treatment plant about 25 km awag; purifying water for drinking, distributing water to reservoirs in 8 cities, 8 towns and the Kasuga-Nakagawa Waterworks Agency. The Seawater of the Desalination Plant has been supplying up to 250,800m3per day, approximately one third of the total water consumption in the Fukuoka urban areas since the start of operation in FY 2005.

In the future we endeavor to harness additional water sources including those of the Chikugo River (Oyama Dam) and the Nakagawa River (Gokayama Dam) to ensure a stable supply of safe drinking water.
